Public Consultation

On behalf of the site owners, Paul Butler Associates are progressing a residential scheme with Corstorphine + Wright Architects at 2 Brixham Road, Stretford, Manchester. A public consultation event was held at the site on 8th May 2024, with over 300 local residents and businesses invited to discuss the redevelopment proposals.

For those who were unable to attend the event, the proposals are also being displayed via this online exhibition from 9th May to the 24th May 2024.

The proposals involve the demolition of the existing buildings and the redevelopment of the site with a high-quality residential scheme comprising a mix of apartments and family housing, together with communal amenity space, car parking and landscaping.

The scheme will provide significant benefits, including:

  • The development of a scheme that will positively contribute to the townscape and the surrounding area, through the removal of poor-quality commercial units and their replacement with high quality residential buildings.
  • The provision of a residential scheme comprising of both apartments and family housing which will meet an identified need for residential accommodation in Stretford and contribute to providing a sustainable community. The scheme will also include a retail unit to meet the requirements of existing / future residents of the scheme and contribute to vibrancy along Ayres Road.
  • The development of a scheme in a highly sustainable and accessible location, in close proximity to Old Trafford Metrolink Stop and bus services on Kings Road. 100% cycle parking facilities will be provided within the scheme.
  • The replacement of a site that wholly comprises of hard landscaping with significant levels of green infrastructure, in the form of tree planting and soft landscaping. As well as providing well-being benefits for future residents of the scheme, this will soften the built form on the site and enhance biodiversity.
  • Together with communal amenity space for residents, all dwellings will be provided with their own private amenity space, either in the form of gardens, balconies or roof top terraces.
  • Securing direct investment into the local community through the provision of jobs during the construction stage and spending in nearby facilities by future residents of the scheme, as well as boosting local Council Tax revenue.

After the consultation has ended, all comments will be taken into consideration which will enable progression of the scheme into its final design stage. Paul Butler Associates will then be progress the submission of a planning application to Trafford Council.
