Heritage StatementPlanning Statement
Paul Butler Associates Ltd secured planning permission for a mixed-use scheme comprising 497 apartments, 1,200 sqm of commercial floorspace, amenity space and car parking. The scheme comprises a group of four buildings of 12, 13, 21 and 31 storeys set around a communal landscaped courtyard. Despite the site being located within the historic heart of Salford, until development commenced, in recent decades it had been used only for surface car parking.

Paul Butler Associates Ltd prepared the Planning Policy, Heritage and Affordable Housing and Planning Obligation Statements in support of the planning application.  As well as demonstrating that the site was appropriate for a high density tall building development, the practice also assessed the scheme’s impact on the setting of the Manchester Cathedral Conservation Area and nearby Listed Buildings including the Grade I Listed Chetham’s School of Music and the Grade I listed Manchester Cathedral.

The scheme was approved in 2013 and completed in 2016.
